Virtually every oboe solo, however, has been stripped from the original part and given to the clarinet (mm. 86, 190, and 262; the sole exception is m. 146). The progression from dominant to tonic gives a strong sense of conclusion, and that's why it is used so often at the end of a phrase, a melody, or an entire piece.
